Our History

The Label

Originally founded by Duplicuts in 2006, Shining Shadow is the home of Mighty Immortals (Duplicuts & El Da Sensei), Duplicuts, and the original legacy act DJ ArmBuster Lewis. Born out of a singular focus, the naked simplicity of Shining Shadow is to — Advance the Art.

As a result of forging a music brand that doesn’t take cues from trendy phenomenons, the Shining Shadow catalog of far-reaching music has garnered fans the world over, has been played and endorsed by cultural luminaries like Chuck D (Public Enemy), and has contributions from notable legends such as El Da Sensei (Artifacts), Sadat X (Brand Nubian), and Kool Keith (Ultramagnetic MCs) amongst others.

Today Shining Shadow continues to stay true to its original mission—to advance the art.

Fidelity

We pride ourselves in having the highest resolution, whether creating a Lo-fi track to vibe out with or composing a cinematic instrumental Hip-hop piece... High resolution sonic integrity is key

Production

All production is executed & overseen by label head Duplicuts. If it doesn't meet or adhere to his vision, it doesn't get released. Period.

Promotion

Label promo is very nimble and agile in order to contend with market fluctuations and nuances while simultaneously keeping in check with our branding and ethos.

Videos & visual media

To once again keep in line with the overarching vision, all music videos in the Shining Shadow catalog are either directed by Duplicuts himself, or he is integral in the sourcing, interviewing, and hiring of the individuals responsible for assisting in the creation of music videos, photo shoots, song covers etc.
