“Rogue Agents” by Mighty Immortals
With the release of The Mighty Immortals debut self-titled EP in 2009, many people were surprised at El Da Sensei’s lyrics over Drum & Bass breaks. The idea that an emcee like El that has primarily been associated with boom bap, was now lacing his lyrics on not only a different genre, but is also being well-recieved (several songs have been commissioned to companies such as MTV2 and Quicksilver Clothing) was being contested in some circles. Considering that he’s experimented with genres that are outside of what he’s known for and many others in his position would just stick to the status quo, he along with producer Duplicuts have now gone against the establishment. Broken protocol. Gone well beyond what’s expected of them. And in effect have become, ‘Rogue Agents’.
For some time now, El and Duplicuts have been strategizing in the lab with uncompromising beats, laser-like rhymes, and an exceptional supporting cast. As with their debut release, all music is provided by Duplicuts who tailor-made hard-hitting, no holds barred beats for El Da Sensei and the album’s phenomenal supporting cast.
To help flesh out the Rogue Agents squadron, this time around El & Dup have enlisted the assistance of Sadat X (Brand Nubian), Kool Keith (UltraMagnetic MCs), John “JR” Robinson (AKA Lil Sci from Scienz of Life), Craig G (from the legendary Juice Crew) and NJ phenom Internal Quest.
